Bird’s Foot Violet is a native herbaceous plant that may grow 4-8 inches high. The shape of the leaves resemble a bird’s foot. Lavender blue or bi-colored flowers with orange anthers bloom during early to late Spring. The flowers may bloom during the Fall again. This plant occurs naturally in rocky, open woods, sandy prairies or pine lands. This plant needs well-drained sandy soil along with full or partial shade. Native to Eastern North America.
