Scope of Work

Long Island Natives was hired to consult on a seaside appropriate dunefront design and installation. The homeowners were eager to make the property naturally lush and species appropriate for the area. The proposed plan would need to be able to tolerate strong coastal conditions as well pressure from foraging deer inhabiting the area. A few of the species included in this project are Eastern Red Cedar, Bayberry, Beach Plum, Groundselbush, Hay Scented Fern, and Pennsylvania Sedge. The site features many types of native grasses including American Beach Grass, Switchgrass, Big and Little Bluestem, and Hairgrass. The owners embraced the naturally occurring vegetation as required by town ordinances and the result turned into a natural native coastal oasis.

  • Ammophila breviligulata - American Beach Grass
  • Andropogon gerardii - Big Bluestem
  • Andropogon scoparium - Little Bluestem
  • Baccharis halimifolia - Groundsel Bush
