Product Description

Chamaecyparis thyoides, commonly known as Atlantic White Cedar, is an elegant, evergreen conifer native to the coastal regions and wetland habitats of the eastern United States. Valued for its attractive blue-green foliage, narrow pyramidal form, and adaptability to moist conditions, this long-lived native tree is an excellent choice for wetland landscapes, rain gardens, native plantings, screening, and naturalized areas.

Throughout the year, Chamaecyparis thyoides maintains dense, scale-like blue-green to gray-green foliage that provides reliable evergreen color and structure. Its naturally narrow, upright growth habit makes Atlantic White Cedar particularly useful for creating vertical interest and privacy screens. Small, rounded cones develop on mature trees, adding additional seasonal interest.

Atlantic White Cedar performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, acidic, well-drained to poorly drained soils. It is particularly well adapted to wet areas and can thrive in conditions that are challenging for many other landscape trees. Once established, it is relatively low maintenance and can provide valuable habitat and cover for birds and other wildlife.

With its attractive evergreen foliage, graceful form, wet-site tolerance, and native habitat value, Chamaecyparis thyoides is an excellent choice for gardeners and landscapers looking to add year-round structure and ecological value to moist or naturalized landscapes.
