Bouteloua gracilis- Blue Grama

A cornerstone of North American prairie landscapes, Bouteloua gracilis is a compact, warm-season native grass prized for its durability, fine texture, and distinctive ornamental appeal. It forms tidy clumps of soft blue-green foliage that stay low and neat, making it an excellent choice for smaller spaces and low-maintenance plantings.

In early to mid-summer, unique eyelash-shaped flower spikes appear, held horizontally above the foliage and adding subtle movement and charm. Highly drought tolerant, heat resistant, and adaptable to poor or sandy soils, blue grama thrives in full sun and requires minimal water once established. It also provides valuable habitat and food for birds and other wildlife.
